Vaccine Descriptions
Distemper (D)
Often fatal viral disease, especially affects the nervous and repiratory system
Hepatitis (H)
A contagious viral disease affecting the liver
Parainfluenza (P)
A highly contagious viral disease that causes canine cough
Parvovirus (P)
A highly contagious and often fatal disease that affects the intestines
Leptospirosis (L)
Often fatal bacterial disease affecting intestines, liver, and kidneys. It is spread by the consupmtion of urine from wild animals, such as racoons
Rabies
A fatal virus that attacks the nervous system. The 1st Rabies vaccine given is good for 1 year. All subsequent Rabies vaccines given are good for 3 years. This is required by Maryland State Law
Bordetella
Protects against bacteria, Bordetella, and the virus Parainfluenza, that can cause canine cough. This is required for boarding and/or grooming in most cases
Lyme
Common tick-born desease that can cause joint pain, lethargy, or in extreme cases kidney failure.
