Attention Muddy Creek Pet Owners!
Muddy Creek Animal Hospital is teaming up with the Eastern Veterinary Blood Bank to help save the lives of millions of dogs around the world! We set up trips for the EVBB staff to come to our clinic to collect blood from dogs in our area! If you have a dog and they meet the criteria below, your dog could be a blood donor and a hero to other dogs in need!
Basic Donor Criteria:
- Must weigh at least 35 pounds and be in good health
- Must be between the ages of 9 months and 7 1/2 years
- Must be on heartworm preventative and up to date on all vaccines with your regular veterinarian
- Cannot be on any long-term medication or had any prior serious disease
- Must be able to commit to donating blood 5 -7 times in the course of a year
Benefits of Being a Donor:
- Brief physical exam is done prior to each donation
- Blood typing is done at first initial appointment
- Blood Chemistry Profile and Complete Blood Count is done annually
- Ehrlichia, Hemobartonella, Babesia, and Brucella testing is done
- EVBB identification tag and bandana
- Various pet health and nutrition give aways
- Once annual requirements have been met, the donor is eligible to receive 1 unit of blood or plasma, for each unit of blood donated, should the donor ever need it for any illness or injury warrant its use.
If you are interested in this nobel cause and your dog meets the above criteria, you can call us or stop by to add your name to our sign up sheet. Visit the EVBB website for further details.
